The digital photography course is designed for beginners who would like to get to know their camera better, explore various settings, learn about effective composition and how to use a light to produce professionally looking images. The course is also suitable for keen photographers who have been using a camera for a while but not to the full potential and mainly use the pre-set modes.

After the course you will be confident to use your camera on full manual setting and you will be able to deal with any difficult light situation.

You will learn about how aperture works and determines depth of fields in your images. You will test various settings of shutter speed and experience the effect of capturing a moving subject. You will apply ISO and white balance correctly to enhance your images and get to know what the best lighting for successful images is. You will discover how in camera light meter works and how to compose an eye pleasing composition. 

But mainly, you will have a fun with your camera and meet likeminded people, who you can go out to photograph with, if you wish so.

Places are limited to 10 students only, for more personal approach and with plenty of time to practise and ask questions.

About Iva Dyke

This course will be led by a local photographer and tutor Iva Dyke. Iva has been working in  photography industry for over 25 years and teaching photography courses for over 18 years in the local college and privately. She currently takes images on a digital SLR, however she occasionally likes to get her old film camera out and create images on black and white film. Iva is a passionate photographer who doesn’t shy from any photographic challenge; she likes sharing her passion and helping other photography enthusiasts to achieve their perfect images.   Her teaching style is very relaxed and informal, backed with years of experience in freelancing and teaching people from various walks of life.
